and after some usual day at work ... I came to a discussion with many friends and other people ..
The discussion was about the identity ... and I'm referring here to where and what we belong to ... is it nation , race , religion or just idiots in this world??? ...
It really concerns me ... who am I?? and to whom or what do I belong to?
so after "years" of thinking and observation plus lectures here and there ... i came to think that we are actually "hanged" to some ideas without our consent or realization ... and thats quite amazing .. how can we be fooled by this ... all this time!!
We are told since we were young that : You are Sudanese ... you should be proud of it , I hear other say and write about countries ... Baladi! (Arabic) , Negaraku! (Malay) ... Patriotic Americans ... and they claim that they feel the existence of The Nation within their souls ...
but when we read history books ... we can really find out that all of these "Nations" are actually fake!! ... we are happy to be recognized by certain nationality , We Are Proud To be From This Country!!!! .. but lets be honest here ...
as Muslims ... we know that we are supposed to proud of one thing ... Islam ... and thats the highest priority ... nothing is more important ... nor nothing should be better nor we should be prouder with something else...
but they will tell you : Whats the problem?? Its my country!!! i was born there and i will die there ... and who are you to talk about my nation????
Well , lets assume you were born, raised, and lived in another country .. weirdly we will find this same problem ... that person who never saw his "Nation" will have this weird relation and attraction to it ... it has become part of his soul : he will tell
so ..we're coming closer ... and Gotcha!! ... now i know why we are raised into being nationalist ... its the Parents, school and Mr. Government who needs support based on some false feelings built into people .. "embedded" by others into our hearts ...
They will tell us since our early young age : The Nation, later when we are growing: The Nation ... so we grew up believing in the idea -as it sounds correct- ...
but there is a nation existed always and will continue to exist ... Islam ... a religion, a way of life , a system , a Nation by itself that we can identify ourselves with ...
our grandfathers died for the sake of this ... they never died so we will continue to be in this situation .... and if they died for other reasons in themselves .. then its their problem .. and they have died for the sake of a false idea as well... if that was the case ..
During the old days , this idea existed , but wasn't that strong .. it was based on race more than nationalism ... and it was covered by the greatness of the system that was based on Islam ... at least from the outside ... people believed that they are one ... until one day came those who separated this big power ... for their own needs ... and called each place by some name ... they wanted it like this of course for their own benefits ... but we continue to "swallow" their ideas without thinking ... we are born to be Nationalists ...
and today ... not many would like to think of it .. fearing they will loose the benefits they selfishly share with others ... going against the main principles of Islam , Which is : We should be proud of this religion ... and shouldn't be proud of a "worldly" thing ... the worst thing is : Its not just worldly but false as well ...
but the contradiction will occur when we think we can behave as nationalists but claim we are proud of Islam .. actually these two cannot co-exist .. as one disqualifies the other ...
We reached a level of following a nation's culture .. even when it goes against the basics of Islam ... now who will be responsible of this on the day , when we are asked ... do you think the question will be : Where is your passport??? or do you think Sudanese will be lined in one line ... Malaysians lined in one line ... Americans lined in one line????!!!! Do you think we will be asked why we fought over a Piece of Land because it was owned by another country??? or why killed our own people but not people from other countries????
If that was the case ... then we will have to be and do ....
all for the sake of the Nation ....
